Week 27 baby #5

Last week before the third trimester!
December 27th-January 2nd
27 weeks with Rose

On Monday, I had my 27 week doctor appointment even though I was technically only 26 weeks 4 days along. According to their scale weigh 105.0lbs which is up almost 3 pounds since my last appointment 3 weeks ago. My blood pressure was 114/66. Baby B weighed 2lbs 2oz which is one ounce more than Landon weighed when he was born (at 27 weeks 5 days!) Baby is now head down which is much more comfortable for me and his heart rate was 148 beats per minute.

The bad news is I failed my glucose test for the first time ever AND it was only by two points (passing is 135 my score was 137.) I had a few options and decided to retake the one hour test after fasting because I didn't fast last time (per orders.) I was shocked I failed it because I usually always pass with flying colors like with Rose I scored a 78! Hopefully, I pass this one hour test so I don't have to do the dreaded three hour one.

In other not so great news is my cervix has become significantly shorter this appointment than last time. We will be checking it again in two weeks, but it is still closed which is obviously great! We were able to schedule my c-section for March 21st. I have been told by multiple doctors I won't be making it to that date with my history with preterm labor, but I still have hope!

At 27 weeks baby is the size of a cauliflower weighing about 2lbs and is around 14 1/2 inches long according to BabyCenter.

Weight gain: 105.4lbs

Sleep: With the holidays I've been extra exhausted. When I sleep I usually sleep well sometimes I wake up really early like 3 or 4am and can't fall back asleep though.

Craving: The usual chocolate, cookies, cheese and bread. Having failed my glucose test has made me really rethink my eating habits this pregnancy. All I crave is junk food and it been like that since the beginning. I only have 12 weeks left so I have made it my goal to completely change my diet.

Symptoms: Tired, lower back pain, weird vivid dreams.

Looking forward to: Matt and my 7th wedding anniversary is on New Years Eve!

What I am loving: The rolls and the hiccups!

Days until:

29 week appointment: 11
Third trimester: 7
C-section date: 84

Total pounds gained: 9

Week 26 baby #5

December 20th- 26th
26 weeks inside the womb usually look like this, but our baby looks more like this...
totally breech.

This week baby is the size of a scallion or a head of lettuce weighing about 1 2/3lbs and measures 14 inches.

Weight gain: 104.4lbs

Sleep: Sleep is going pretty well! I am so exhausted all the time though. There were a few nights this week I woke up to use the bathroom and then couldn't fall back asleep because the baby was kicking.

Craving: Chocolate and Christmas cookies

Symptoms: Exhaustion, ears popping, lower back pain and dry skin.

Since switching to our high risk doctor Matt has had to take over giving me my weekly Makena shot. Only TEN more to go!

What I am looking forward to: Our 27 week appointment on Monday and of course Christmas!

Days until:

Our next ultrasound: 4
Christmas: 5
Until the third trimester:14
Due date: 98

Total pounds gained: 8

At 25 weeks baby measures about 13 1/2 inches and weighs around a pound and a half.

Weight gain: As of this morning I weigh 102.8lbs

Craving: Soup, grilled cheese, mozzarella sticks and pizza... really anything warm and cheesy!

Movement: Big kicks mostly in the morning and in the evening. This might seem early to some, but I definitely felt some hiccups a few times this week too!

Symptoms: Lower back pain, exhaustion, major dry skin head to toe, braxton hicks about once a day. My stuffy nose during the night has returned as well as the bad taste in my mouth.

Looking forward to: We have our last 4D elective ultrasound tonight the whole family is coming!

Countdowns:

Days until out next doctor appointment: 11

Days until the third trimester: 20

Days until the due date: 104, but we will be meeting him in around 97 or less days because of my repeat c-section and with my history with preterm labor no one really knows when.

Week 24 baby #5

December 6- December 12

How am I already 6 months pregnant? Just a few more months and we will be holding our beautiful boy!

We had our 24 week appointment on Monday. Baby B weighed 1lb and 7oz which is exactly what Trent weighed at his 24 week appointment. Oliver weighed 1lb 5oz and Rose weighed 1lb 4oz. He is completely breech which is fine because it is still early and also because I am getting a c-section. His heart was beating away at 138bpm! I had the option of scheduling our c-section date at the appointment, but Matt had to leave early so I didn't want to schedule it without him.  As of now we are looking at the dates of March 14th, 15th or 21st.

My weight was 102.3lbs and my blood pressure was 118/51.

At 24 weeks the baby is the size of a cantaloupe about 11.8 inches and 1.3lbs.

Weight gain: As of this morning I weigh 102.4lbs

Sleep: Crazy and vivid dreams

Craving: Chocolate, chocolate milk, hot chocolate, grilled cheese and oatmeal cookies.

Movement: Baby boy is breech just like I thought, his kicks have been pretty low recently. From what I read babies usually don't turn until 26-28 weeks.

Symptoms: I was a chaperone for Landon's field trip in Washington D.C. on Monday by the time I got home that afternoon my whole body hurt. I have been extra tired this week, braxton hicks a few times a day and very thirsty.

What I am looking forward to: Christmas!

Countdowns:

Days until next appointment: Will be on Christmas Eve
Days until Christmas: 19
Days until due date: 111

Week 23 baby #5

November 29-December 05

At 23 weeks baby is the size of a large mango 12 inches long and weighed over a pound.

I had an elective 4D ultrasound on Saturday and witnessed our sweet boy sucking away on the cord! He has some fuzz already growing on his head and from the looks of it he has Matt's widows peak. We are so in love!

Weight gain: As of this morning I weigh 101.2lbs

Sleep: Sleeping is still going well! I have vivid dream and usually wake at least once to use the bathroom.

Eating: Soups, grilled cheese, cereal, carrots, hot chocolate, chocolate milk

Movement: Less little jabs and more slow big rolls!

Symptoms: Nothing new just the same braxton kicks, exhaustion, dry skin and hunger.  My Makena shots have been really itchy at the injection sight. From what I have read this is common. Just 13 more to go...

What I am looking forward to: I am really enjoying decorating for Christmas and doing fun family holiday activities! Also, I can't wait for our ultrasound on Monday to see how big our boy is!

Countdowns:

Days until 24 week ultrasound: 4
Days until Christmas: 26
Days until due date: 119

At 22 weeks baby is the size of a spaghetti squash almost 1 pound and 11 inches long.

During our ultrasound on Monday our baby boy estimated to weigh 1lb. and 2oz!

Weight gain: As of this morning I weigh 100.2lbs

Sleep: Very vivid, strange dreams and waking up to use the bathroom at least once.

Eating: Soup, grilled cheese, chicken lo mein, chili, carrots, cheese and crackers, peanut butter and crackers and ice cream. Eating as much as I can!

Movement: This past week I have been waking up to kicks around 4am! They're literally strong enough to wake me from sleeping then I can't fall back asleep.

Symptoms: Itchy skin, vivid dreams, braxton hicks and exhaustion.

What I am looking forward to: We have our second 4D ultrasound this Saturday! I think for the last one in the package we will go around 29/30 weeks. The tech said since I am very petite the baby will be harder to see much past 30 weeks.

Week 21 baby #5

November 15th-21st

At 21 weeks baby is the size of a carrot about 12.7 ounces and 10.5 inches long.

Weight gain: At my appointment last week my doctor said she wanted me to gain on average a pound a week. Some weeks I will gain two (like last week) and other weeks I won't gain any like this week. As of this morning I weigh 98.2lbs.

Sleep: Waking up at least once a night to go to the bathroom.

Eating: Pretzel bagels with cream cheese, turkey sandwiches, chips and chili has been a new craving!

Movement: Yes and lots of it! Just like the last few weeks I mostly feel him in the mornings and in the evenings.

Symptoms: Mild headaches, stuffy nose usually in the morning and itchy belly.

What I am looking forward to: Rose has her first ballet recital this weekend. I am so excited to watch her dance in her little costume. Matt is even doing a father/daughter dance on the stage with her! I also can't wait for our ultrasound on Monday to see how big our baby boy is.

Countdowns:

Days until next ultrasound: 4
Days until next OBGYN appointment: 13
Days until Thanksgiving: 7
Days until due date: 132

OOOOH, BOY!

That's right baby number five is a BOY! For some reason since the beginning of this pregnancy most of our family and friends have guessed this baby was going to be a girl. It even made me start to lean girl most days! I did have a very vivid dream weeks ago that I delivered a baby boy that has been my only dream about this baby. Years ago when I was pregnant with Rose I had multiple dreams that I had pink hair well before we found out she was in fact a girl!

Since finding out I was pregnant, I haven't had the urgency that I did with all my other pregnancies to know who is in there! I finally have the daughter I had been dreaming of with Rose and let me tell you she is as girly and sassy as they come. There is something so special about her still being the only princess and having all these amazing bothers to protect her! Who knows, maybe one day she will even get a baby sister! Our plan was to wait until the birth to find out the gender, but at our ultrasound this little angel had other plans! We don't feel disappointed about knowing and we are actually very excited to start preparing more now.

I am thrilled to be bringing another sweet boy into our family! My sons have always been Mama's boys and are truly so loving. After watching this little one all balled up in there I can confidently say we have another snuggler on our hands and I can't wait for March to cuddle him up and smother his face with kisses.

A big thank you to Roe & Co. for capturing this special moment for our family!

Pink Blush Maternity

If you follow along on my Instagram (melissaaworthington) you probably already saw my post gushing about one of my favorite maternity brands Pink Blush.  I have been styling my baby bumps with their comfortable and budget friendly clothes since 2014. Recently, they were kind enough to send me a few new Fall items pictured and linked below. I have been wearing them on repeat since!

Week 20 baby #5

November 8th-14th

At 20 weeks baby is the size of a banana or about 10.5oz and 6.5 inches long.

We had our 20 week scan this week and most importantly everything looked great! Our sweet baby was all types of curled up and squirming around making it impossible to take measurements, which made the ultrasound take over an hour. Our baby weighs 12oz which is in the 64th percentile and their heart was beating at 154 beats per minute. Rose was 10oz and Trent was 13oz at this scan so baby #5 is right on track.

Weight gain: Started out at 96.3lbs and as of this morning I weigh 98.0lbs!

Sleep: Sleep has been much better now that I am finally getting over this cold. The time change though has me going to bed even earlier than usual and waking up very early.

Eating: I have been so hungry this past week! Specifically eating turkey sandwiches (meat heated), pizza, carrots, pretzel bagels, chips, string cheese, fries and halloween candy!

Movement: Many big movements this week I have even been able to see some from the outside. I also noticed the kicks are higher much closer to my belly button.

What I am loving: The bigger kicks and the bigger belly!

Symptoms: Stuffy nose, itchy growing belly, exhaustion, random headaches and braxton hicks. I know I can't believe it either... I already feel braxton hicks contractions a few times a day. I brought it up to my doctor and he wasn't concerned and he said as long as they aren't a few times an hour it is fine.

Days until next ultrasound: 11 days

Days until next OBGYN appointment: 20 days

Days until Thanksgiving: 14 days

Days until due date: 139 days

Total pounds gained this pregnancy: 2

Week 19 baby #5

November 1st- November 7th

At 19 weeks the baby is the size of a tomato or 6 inches long and 8.5 ounces.

I mentioned last week we were going to have an elective 4D ultrasound! We went on Tuesday evening with my parents and all the kids. The baby was in the pike position, literally knee to head. We saw our sweet baby yawn and suck on their hands. It was so special to have our other babies there to watch their newest sibling on a big screen. They were very excited!

The weeks literally keep flying by. I am officially in month five of this pregnancy and it is already halfway over! We are having a repeat c-section at either 38 or 39 weeks, but with my history that would be the best case.

Weight gain: Well as of this morning I weigh 96.4lbs. I went to my OBGYN yesterday and she was concerned of my lack of weight gain not necessarily for the baby, but for my milk supply when baby comes. If I don't gain enough weight during this pregnancy it will effect my supply. My lack of weight gain this week has to do with a horrible head cold. I was so sick for days nothing sounded good to eat. I had a lot of potato and chicken noodle soup. My doctor would like me to gain 3 to 4 pounds by my next visit in 4 weeks!

Sleep: Sleep has been rough. I would wake up to go to the bathroom around 2 am and not be able to go back to sleep because my nose was so stuffy and my throat was dry and sore. After tossing and turning for a while I would eventually give up and go downstairs.

Movement: A lot of kicks especially in the morning and at night. They're getting stronger each week!

Symptoms: Vivid dreams, cold feet, exhaustion and itchy belly.

Craving: I do love warm pretzel bagels with cream cheese and pizza!

What I am loving: Being at the half way point! During my doctors appointment she explained that the reason they would want me to go in for a schedule c-section at 38 weeks is because this is my fifth one and my uterus might be stretching thin. I don't think they will really be able to determine that until they deliver, but they want to be careful because it is more likely to rupture if thats the case.

My previous doctor always said I had hardly any scar tissue and never mentioned my uterus being thin. My new OBGYN said they might be able to order a ultrasound closer to the end of my pregnancy to measure how thick it is. I really want to do everything I can to keep this sweet baby in until the c-section date whenever we schedule it!

What I am looking forward to: The big anatomy scan on Tuesday. I am excited to hear how big our baby is!

Week 18 baby #5

October 25th to October 31st

At 18 weeks the baby is the size of a sweet potato.

On Monday we had our 18 week appointment. Our sweet little baby was kicking all around even the tech felt one. His or her heart was beating away at 151BPM and looks perfect!

Weight gain: My start weight was 96.3lbs and as of this morning I weigh 96.8lbs.

Sleep: I wake up once or twice a night to use the bathroom. Since right before I tested positive I've been having the weirdest dreams!

Movement: A few days ago the baby was having a dance party in my tummy and Landon and Oliver were able to feel little kicks from the outside for the first time! My heart melted as I watched their little faces light up with happiness.  This is the start of my favorite part of pregnancy - bring on all the jabs, kicks and rolls!

Symptoms: Exhaustion is the biggest one this week! I have slowly added a small amount of coffee back into my mornings and I feel like it has really helped with my headaches. Round ligament pains have started and they aren't fun. Stuffy nose, but usually just in the mornings. I woke up one morning this week and my belly button was completely level with the rest of my stomach. It hasn't popped out just yet, but any week now it will be sticking out for the world to see. Haha!

Craving: Still craving unhealthy foods such as grilled cheese, chips, pretzel bagels, potato soup, baked potato, mozzarella sticks and PIZZA!  I do my best to have some fruits or vegetables everyday though.

What I am loving: Everything. I feel so thankful everyday to get the opportunity to carry and grow life inside my belly for the fifth time. It is such a blessing.

What I am looking forward to: I am looking forward to all Halloween activities this weekend! Our kids have been so excited all month to dress up. Trent and Rose have a parade at their preschool and I absolutely love seeing all the little ones dress up each year! As an early Christmas gift Matt bought me a elective 4D ultrasound package that comes with three visit so you can watch your little one grow at each stage. We are taking the kids and my parents to go see the baby for the first time this Tuesday and I can't wait!

Week 17 baby #5

October 18th - October 24th

At 17 weeks the baby is the size of a turnip!

Weight gain: This morning I weigh 96.0! Officially, back up to my start weight and I hope to gain a pound a week from here on out putting me around 20lbs at the end.

Sleep: Very vivid and strange dreams every night! Waking up to use the bathroom once or twice a night and having trouble going back to sleep.

Craving: Cheese and bread, pizza (preferably white) and mozzarella sticks.

Movement: I have been feeling kicks on the outside all week and this morning Matt even felt two!

What I am loving: Feeling our sweet baby's kicks multiple times a day. I feel much more relaxed so I don't need to use the doppler as often.

Symptoms: I am very thankful my morning sickness is pretty much gone, but my new symptoms include headaches, heartburn, and severe exhaustion.

What I am looking forward to: I can't wait for our kids to feel the kicks too!

Doppler: Ranged in the mid 150s this week.

I got my first Makena last Thursday and I will continue to get them every Thursday by a nurse until I am 36 weeks. My arm was sore for about two days, but overall it wasn't bad! It was just a lot of pressure and she had to push it in slowly.

I have my 18 week ultrasound on Monday then the big 20 week ultrasound November 6th.

Week 16 baby #5

October 11th -October 17th

At 16 weeks the baby is the size of a avocado.

We had our 16 week ultrasound on Monday and it went so well! Our little one was all curled up with his/her knees up by their arms. The tech was amazing and took her time explaining everything she was looking for including the four chambers of the heart, bladder, stomach, kidneys, etc. and said he/she looks perfect! Their heart was beating away at 148bpm and he/she weighs approximately 5oz which is in the 49th percentile. My placenta is still posterior and will remain that way which I am thankful for because it lowers my chances of placenta previa. Since having 4 previous c-sections I am at a higher risk, but with it in the back my chances are much lower.

Today is my first shot of progesterone! I am hoping I don't have a reaction and all goes smoothly. I will be getting them weekly at my OBGYN until around 36 weeks.

Weight gain: As of this morning I weigh 95.2lbs. This is still down one pound from my starting weight, but everyday I am feeling better and starting to eat more.

Sleep: Waking up one to two times a night to use the bathroom. I am still having very weird and vivid dreams.

Craving: Pizza, potato soup, cheese and bagels. Meat is still an aversion!

Movement: Same as the last few weeks a few jabs here and there nothing consistent really, but we did see our little guy or girl kicking around during the ultrasound. I could have watched them all day!

What I'm loving: Feeling so much better!

Symptoms: Stuffy nose in the morning, vivid dreams, waking up to use the bathroom, out of breath going up the stairs, dry skin on my stomach/itchy stomach, mild headaches a few times a week and exhaustion!

What I am looking forward to: I am really looking forward to the upcoming weeks! I can't wait to a bigger belly and feel bigger more consistent kicks! I am really looking forward to when the kids can feel the baby too. I know they will love that!

Week 15 baby #5

October 4th-October 10th

At 15 weeks the baby is the size of a navel orange.

I have felt pretty good! A couple moments of nausea, but nothing too bad! This past Monday I met with my OB and she answered some of my questions, I got the flu shot and we heard the baby's heartbeat!

His/her heartbeat ranged in the high 150s this week.

Weight gain: As of this morning I weigh 94.8lbs. I am hoping to gain about a pound a week from now until my c-section date. That would put me right around 23lbs of weight gain! One thing my doctor mentioned was scheduling the delivery for 38 weeks that would be the furthest along I have gone, but I am hoping with the help of the progesterone shots we make it to whatever date we pick!
.
Symptoms: Like mentioned above my nausea has been much better this week. A few mild waves here and there, but over all much better! Vivid dreams, exhaustion and headaches some days.

I had this one dream last week where I delivered the baby at 33 weeks and it was a boy! He had blue eyes and caramel colored hair very similar to Trent's coloring when he was born. For whatever reason I never started my progesterone shots and Matt was telling me in the dream that I had to take the baby to the NICU. I kept trying to get off the elevator at the NICU and it kept passing that level.  It all felt so real!

Craving: Baked potato soup, grilled cheese and pizza. Basically, I am all about cheese and bread this week and no meat protein.

Movement: At the boys soccer practice this week I felt a few jabs/wiggles, but it was hard to focus on them because there was a lot going on. I can't wait for the upcoming weeks where they become full blow kicks.

What I am loving: Feeling better and being able to eat more!

Monday is my 16 week ultrasound and next Thursday morning is my first dose of progesterone.

Week 14 baby #5

September 27th- October 3rd

I can't believe Monday is October 1st! The weeks are flying by!

At 14 weeks the baby is the size of a lemon.

I got really sick on Friday night and it continued throughout the weekend. I had a fever, chills and couldn't keep anything down. Luckily, I had my doppler to give me peace of mind that even though I was feeling horrible the baby was okay! I also am so grateful that none of the kids caught it!

His/her heartbeat ranged from 157-164 bpm this week.

Weight gain/loss: Like I mentioned above I got very sick over the weekend. This morning I weighed 94.2lbs. Hoping to gain the weight I lost and some for next week!

Symptoms: Still having random nausea. It is mostly in the morning soon after I wake up, but it can come on throughout the day if it's been too long since I have eaten or if I have eaten too much. I have had some pretty bad headaches this week one that wouldn't go away! It got so painful I caved in and took a Tylenol which is something I prefer not to do while pregnant. The Tylenol didn't even help it wasn't until I took a second one two hours later, got sick, took a shower and laid down that it finally went away. Ugh! It was awful. Vivid dreams are another symptom I've had since the beginning and they have not slowed down one bit. Some dreams/nightmares seem so real and it is hard to fall back asleep after.

Movement: I feel random very gentle jabs/taps a few times a day.

What I am loving: Honestly, not knowing what we are having is so fun! I enjoy daydreaming about what gender the baby is. I have pros and cons for both and really don't have a preference which is nice. Plus, I have been able to buy a few boy and girl clothes... they're so little and adorable!

I have recently switched to a regular OBGYN from my high risk doctor only because they don't deliver at the hospital that is right by our house and I really want to stay close this time instead of driving over an hour. We have an appointment this Monday I believe she will just talk to me and possibly do the doppler? I don't really know what to expect, but I do have a 16 week ultrasound scheduled for the following Monday on October 8th!

I forgot to mention that a few weeks ago my doctor highly recommended that I start getting progesterone shots at 16 weeks to reduce my chances of preterm labor since I have a history of that. I am willing to do whatever it takes to stop my body from going into labor early and avoiding the NICU.

If you haven't been following along for my past pregnancies I delivered our first baby at 27 weeks due to severe preeclampsia Landon spent 10 weeks in the NICU. Oliver our second son was delivered at 37 weeks. I just started contracting and I was far along enough the doctors didn't stop it. Sadly, he swallowed fluid on his way out and got a small infection so he had to go to the NICU for over a week. Trent our third son was delivered at 36 weeks. Again, I just started contracting and my water broke so there really wasn't any turning back. Trent was the ONLY one out of all four of our babies that didn't need to go the NICU. To some that have been lucky enough to never have a baby go to the NICU this might not seem like a big deal, but it is. Not having your baby with you to hold and bond with those first few days is nothing short of devastating. You dream of those first few days with your baby for nine months and to have to watch them struggling with cords all over and monitors going off left and right is heartbreaking. For Rose, right around 34 weeks, I started contracting again they gave me a shot to stop the contractions when they slowed down I went home. A few days later they started up again so my doctor said it was time to get her out.  After the delivery, she was with us for about 3 hours before our nurse noticed her color was off and took her to be monitored. Rose spent 2 long, long, long weeks in the NICU for lung development.

At the end of the day we are thankful for the great care the NICU provided for our babies, but we are keeping our fingers crossed that baby #5 won't have to spend any time there!

Week 13 baby #5

September 20-September 26th

At 13 weeks the baby is the size of a peach.

Second Trimester is HERE!!! Some say it started last week and some say it starts next week. My pregnancy app (pregnancy+) says it starts today so I am just going to go with that! Like most pregnant woman the second trimester is my favorite.

Finally, seeing a baby bump this week!

Weight gain/loss: 95.2lbs down one pound since the start of this pregnancy.

Symptoms: Morning sickness, I have felt pretty sick every morning this week. I don't feel like eating when I wake up, but if I don't eat it gets worse. Some more symptoms this week include fatigue, vivid dreams and mild heartburn.

Craving: Nothing this week.

Movement: A few gently jabs here and there.

Home Doppler: Ranged 165-168bpm

Old Wives Tales

There isn't much evidence to support these tests, but I still like to do them purely for fun!

Chinese Gender Predictor Test-  I used the one from thebump.com

Mayan Gender Theory- If the age of the mother and the year she conceived are both even or odd it's a girl and if one is even and one is odd its a boy.

Heart Rate Test- If the baby's BPM is above 140 it is a girl and if it is below it is a boy.

Intelligender- I debated doing the kit  this time because it was correct with Landon and Oliver, but wrong with Trent and Rose. I might go out an buy one and post the results with my weekly update.

Wedding Ring on a String Test- If it goes back and forth it is a boy and if it goes in circles it is a girl.

Carrying Low or High- Low means boy and high means girl.

Landon, Oliver, Trent

Rose and baby #5

Dry hands vs Soft Hands- Theory states if your hands have been dryer this pregnancy then you're having a boy and softer or the same then you're having a girl.

Moody or Same- Moody or more emotional in general then that means your having a girl or if you've been the same then it's a boy.

Skin- If you're skin has gotten worse it's a girl and if it has gotten more clear it's a boy. I would say my skin has gotten more clear/stayed the same.

Side You Sleep On- Right means girl and left means boy.

Morning Sickness- If you are sick during your pregnancy it is a girl and if you don't have sickness you are having a boy.

Headaches- If you're having more headaches this pregnancy you're more likely to be carrying a boy. I have had a few mild headaches.

Mother's Intuition- When I first found out I thought it was boy then I thought it was a girl and since then I have gone back and forth. Since we have so many boys I kind of want to say I think it's a boy, but really I have no idea. Matt thinks it's a boy!

Skull Theory- If the skull is more square or flat it's a boy and if its more rounded it's a girl. I had such a hard time with this one. It looks like a mix between a boy and a girl skull to me, but I guess if I had to pick it looks more like a girl.

Sweet or Salty- I have definitely been more into salty things this pregnancy.

Father Gaining Weight- This theory has to do with the baby's Daddy if he has gained weight it is supposedly a girl and if he has lost weight or stayed the same its boy. No, Matt has not gained any weight this pregnancy. I find this one so funny!

Ramzi Theory- This theory has to do with which side the baby implants on and can only be done between weeks 5-8. This one can be tricky because it depends on which type of ultrasound you have done (vaginal or abdominal.)

NT Scan

Yesterday afternoon was my NT scan my weight was 96.9lbs and they did not take my blood pressure. Nuchal translucency is a collection of fluid under the skin at the back of your baby's neck. The NT scan measures the thickness of this fluid to assess the risk of down's syndrome. My doctor said they like to see it under 3mm and our baby's was 1.60mm which is perfect! We were able to see our sweet baby wiggling around. Their heart was beating away at 168BPM which is much lower than Trent's 180BPM at this his NT scan and Rose's 183BPM.

Week 12 baby #5

September 14th -19th

At 12 weeks the baby is the size of a large plum.

A little tiny baby bump this week? Maybe?

Weight gain/loss: 94.6lbs down about one pound since the start of this pregnancy.

Symptoms: Vivid weird dreams, weird taste in my mouth, waking up to use the restroom during the night and nausea throughout the day. Usually, I feel sick if I eat too much or it has been too long since I have eaten.

Cravings: Finally, had my first craving this week and it couldn't be more cliche... PICKLES! I am obsessed! I want them on my sandwich and on the side. I was looking back at Trent's 12 week post (linked at the top of the page) and I noticed I was also craving pickles this week!

Movement: I know it is suuuper early, but I think I felt one or two gently jabs this week. In the past, I started to feel them around 14 weeks. My placenta is posterior this time and with Rose it was anterior. When it is anterior the placenta cushions the baby's kicks and you probably won't feel them as early.

Home Doppler: Ranged from 167-173bpm

Tomorrow is my NT scan I can't wait to see our little one bouncing around! I will be writing a post all about it and one on old wives tales which are always fun!
